And aware of our commitment and the resulting impact on the environment, the so-called Ecological Footprint, we have always favoured eco-responsible behaviour. Sinceall our communication has always been preferably in digital format rather than physical(billboards, flyers, paper), and gradually extending to other areas, such as marshalling, which since the 2017 edition has been made solely of reusable material (the eliminationof the use of plastic in markings stands out) and since the 2019 edition with regard to prizes: medals and trophies. Here, original, personalised products made with eco-friendly materials have been created.
For the 2025 edition, we are offering everyone who decides to take part in this event a small (optional) contribution towards the purchase of native trees. Together with thelocal partners who have accompanied us over the last few years, we are obliged, withthe funds raised, to carry out tree-planting and reforestation actions in the geographicalareas where the Marão Ultra Trail takes place. These actions will be scheduled andcarried out by the Organisation following the guidelines of these local partners who, better than anyone, know the region, the species and the right times to plant.
Athletes can also take part in this initiative by selecting the ‘Ecological Compensation’ option when registering and taking part in the initiative, which the Organisation willpublicise through its communication channels in due course.
